Greetings from Flossie lying on Christel's bed, who is from Casper and Blottie's litter of nine little Blenheim pups
Also got a lovely photo of Ollie's litter brother, Archie enjoying his 8th Birthday. Archie is from Reggie and Smudge's litter of Nine pups born back in 2012. "Hi Jane!
It’s my birthday!! My family can’t believe I am 8! Wishing all my brothers and sisters a very happy birthday too ! I love being in the Poundland gang! Lots of love from Archie xxxxxxx🌈" 8th Birthday greetings for Ollie arrived yesterday on his birthday from Sharon. Ollie is from Reggie and Smudge's litter of Nine pups born back in 2012. "Hi Jane
Hope you and your family are all well at Pound Lane. What a very strange time we are living through at the moment. Stay safe everyone Love Sharon & Ollie Ollie is on the right" I think we might be at the beginning of a bromance between Puddin' and Billy Jessica is Toby's (Dad to Ernest) litter sibling, so Ernest's Auntie. Six years ago due to an accident Jessica had her back left leg amputated. We decided with the loss of her leg to not breed from her. She will be 9 years old this November and still seems fit and well.
Smudge will be 10 years old in May. Mum to Blottie and Bumble. Some will know, that I have been looking for a tricoloured male Cavalier, to bring into my lines for at least four years now. In February, I contacted a breeder, that is not that far from me, as they had a litter advertised. I visited the litter, and with only one tricoloured boy in the litter. It was viewing to see if he fitted the bill of what I was looking for. I saw him at just three weeks old. meeting both parents. I put a deposit down and kept my fingers crossed, the potential I had seen in the pup's parents and the pup, would come to fruition. We named him, then and there. With his breeder asking if we had a name for KC registering him with her prefix, and my daughter, Molly came forth with "Billy Bunter." Then Covid 19 kicked off, and I even thought to run word on the little chap, but I spoke with the breeder and a week ago, we met halfway between both our homes, and I brought Billy home. I hope I've done the right thing, and Billy will prove to be worth the four years or so it has taken to find him. He is a confident little chap, already settled in to life at Poundlane, like he's been here from the get-go.
Blottie will be 5 years old on the 24th April. We decided not to breed from her on her last heat, due to things being a bit up in the air with Covid 19 spreading. With the retrictions now, you would be unable to visit our premises, and personally, I don't think you should be buying a pup unless you can visit the premises it is being bred in, meeting the pup's Mum in person. Puppy farms must be having a field day at the moment, flogging pups to the unsuspecting public. The kennel club advise that viewing is okay to be done electronically. Imagine how easy that can be set up to look nothing like the reality the pup has really been brought up in.
We hope to have Blottie back on heat around October time, and all going well, we will pair her up with Ernest again, as they had such a beautiful litter of ten pups together December 2017. Last but not least, our Ernest, who along with his litter siblings Lily, Barney and Albey turned 4 years old today.
Happy 4th Birthday to you all! After being reminded by Heather earlier of Toby and Treacle's litter of 4 pups birthday today. I sent birthday greetings to Stephanie who re-homed Lily for me last year. She sent me a lovely photo of Lily with her old boy, Toby. "Goodness I had forgotten!
Here is a recent picture of her. Toby is disguising the fact that she has put on weight - probably being spayed did it. I am gradually reducing her rations now. Happy Birthday to Ernie and Best Wishes to you all XXX Stephanie" A Happy 4th Birthday, "Hello" for Barney from Viv and Jan. Barney is from Toby and Treacle's litter of 4 pups born 2016. "Hello how’s it going,
Hope you are all keeping well. Here’s a pic of Barney taking a nap after a good play in the garden. Stay safe. Viv Jan Jenkins" Lovely 4th Birthday update for our Ernest's litter brother, Albey. Albey is from Toby and Treacle's litter of 4 pups born 2016. Happy 4th Birthday to Albey, Lily, Ernest and Barney! "Hello Jane, I hope you and your family are well, the world is so topsy turvy at the moment! I thought you'd like a little update from the Birthday boy, 4 today, where did the time go! Albey continues to bring us endless joy, he loves a cuddle, in fact he's very needy! He's cheeky and clever and keeps us on our toes. One of his favourite games is to steal our socks and run around with them making 'Reggie rumbles'! Take care, Heather x" "Hello Heather,
thanks for reminding me. The photo of Albey looking up at the camera, head against someones leg, I can see Lottie, his niece. Thanks for the 4th Birthday update and give Albey a big hug from us all. Hope you are all doing okay in these strange times. Love from Poundlane Jane x" Update for Ezra and a question. Ezra is from Toby and Treacle's litter of three pups born 2019 "Hi Jane, I hope you and your family are well. I imagine the children are enjoying being off school :) Please can I pick your brains about dog foods? For the past month, Ezra doesn't seem to be getting on very well with the vitalin puppy food. His poos are too soft and sometimes runny with some mucous. We've read perhaps it could be a sign of too much protein in the diet so have tried blending it down with some rice, but so far no improvement. Today we have added some probiotic kefir to his food to see if that helps too. We wonder if now is the time to move on to an adult food with less protein. Would you recommend doing this at his age? Which brands would you recommend? Any advice would be much appreciated. We are a little concerned that he eats so little, we don't know where he gets his energy from! He walks away from his food often and needs encouragement to eat but he has always been that way, I remember you saying Lily and Ernest are the same. I will attach some recent pics....his fur is growing now and other than the tummy he is doing very well! Love Sam xx" "Hello Sam, it maybe that something else has upset his stomach, not nessesarily his food. If can take a while for their stomach to settle down after something has unbalanced it. Probiotics are a good thing to give to get gut bacteria back up. It might be good to put him on just chicken and rice along with the probiotics for a couple days to calm everything down and then gradually start him on an adult dog food. If he is a little sensitive, you could try one of the complete raw diets, you can buy in trays. Which makes feeding raw a lot easier. He looks very well though and like a slighlty less curly Ernest. Hope you are both doing well, during these strange times. Love from Poundlane Jane x" "Thanks Jane. We will try the chicken and rice for a few days and hope that may settle things. He is terrible for eating things in the garden, running off with a cheeky look on his face and something in his mouth, so perhaps something out there has started off the bad tummy. We hadn't considered a raw diet so will read up on that too, thank you.
We are ok thanks, yes very strange times. Don is aiming to start working from home most the time from next week and see how that works out...it isn't really a work fom home job but going to give it a go. I'm very grateful to have little Ezra here during this time of isolation. Foxy is still a firm favourite toy....I will attach a pic from yesterday of him wanting it off the washing line :) Love to you all xx" Sent this photo from Angie of Archie enjoying a runaround. Archie is one of Reggie and Smudge's Nine pups born back in April 2012.
Noticed Puddin' disappearing under the gate into our paddock, and with a little encouragement he unescaped himself. |

WE DO NOT EXPORT PUPPIES
Why I don't export AT POUNDLANE
Our breeding dogs are multi generational extensively health tested. With all our breeding stock having recommended and relevant DNA tests for their breed/breeds. We also have breeding stock annually eye examined on the BVA Hereditary Eye Disease Scheme for dogs, MRI scanned on the BVA scheme using the BVA chiari malformation /syringomyelia breeding protocol, and heart examined using The Kennel Club Heart Scheme for Cavalier King Charles breeding protocol |
