Yesterday, we put Primrose to rest. Primrose was still in a pretty reasonable place, and we decided to let her go, before getting her into an unreasonable place. Primrose had always been such an active little Cavalier, it was obvious it was becoming hard for her to live with the restrictions Chronic Heart Failure due to Mitrial Valve Disease was putting on her.
It is never easy making the decision of when to euthanize a pet. When is the right time? As I drove yesterday to the vets with her, as she caught my glances, they were met with a trusting stare and gentle wag of tail. My, I questioned my motives for this most final of decisions. I sat with her in the back of the car, as the vet administrated the finality of my decision, with my hand against her ribcage, I felt her heart fall still. A heart enlarged and working so hard it would give her the appearance of gently rocking, when she tried to rest. It did not feel right, it did not feel wrong, it felt like she was able to finally rest, something that she was finding increasingly hard to do. Restwell, Pretty Primrose.

Sorry to hear this news but you did the best thing for her, putting her needs above your wish to have her with you a little longer x

Dear Jane, I am so sorry for your loss and hard as it is you made the best decision for Primrose. I know only too well the cruelty of this terrible disease and it is such a tough time for you all. She can now run, pain free, until we are all reunited with our loved ones.

Yes, I know. It is very sad to see the greeders taking advantage of the situation we are in. I have read some breeders justifying their up pricing during this time, saying things like, "The price is because others are charging more that don't do as much as we do to produce a pup. So we should get even more for our pups than them." The old justifying something wrong by another wrong to make a right. Two wrongs don't make a right in my mind.

I’ve just been catching up with your posts Jane & was so sad to read this about Primrose. What a hard decision for you to make, but ultimately the best for Primrose. I always looked out for her on your blog & said a little thankyou to her for giving birth to my Harley. I hope you are well otherwise? Harley is super, nearly 4 and still people ask me if he is a puppy! I’ll send a proper email update & photos soon. Sarah & Harley x
