My daughter Florrie took these photos of Teagol yesterday evening lying on my bed. Teagol is normally a very trim girl and lying in this position, you would normally easily see the outline of her ribcage and her stomach would be much flatter. Bitches just like woman in the early stages of pregnancy can have decreased appetite and vomiting, decreased activity (tiredness), mamary gland development and weight loss. Teagol has displayed all those symptoms along with being even more affectionate than usual (if that was possible) and with already starting to show an obvious filling of her abdominal area at only 4 weeks pregnant, I would consider she is carrying a good size litter. I am now pretty sure Teagol is pregnant that if I was a betting person, I would put money on it. She is now four weeks from her last mating, so she is around 4 to 4 1/2 weeks pregnant and as usual there will be plenty of photos as she blossoms. Just to remind everyone that I now have a new email to contact me on [email protected].
Just got this lovely 1st Birthday update for Ezra's brother Alfie from Adam. Alfie is one of Toby and Treacle's three pups born last year and another Uncle to Teagol. "Hi Jane, Well today is Alfie’s first birthday! Just wanted to send you a little update. He has come a long way in the last year, is a bouncy happy dog and always wants to play especially with other doggie pals! He loves his toys, and my shoes! Though we’ve managed to keep that under control in the main! I’ve attached some updated pictures of him too for you." Lovely update for Archie from Jane, Paul and Jasmine. Archie is one of Reggie and Primrose's four pups born September 2012. "Hello Jane,
Just a quick email to send you a fairly recent photo of Archie! He’s doing fine - he’ll be 8 this year! Becoming a bit arthritic so having to give him Metacam at the moment which really seems to help. He recovered from his pancreatitis - we were very strict with his food - low fat cooked chicken and some rice with low fat kibble. Recently he looked a little lethargic and poorly (and old) so after some research we are giving low fat raw food a go for a month www.honeysrealdogfood.com - he lapped it up and his energy returned as he lost a bit of weight - and then this last week suddenly turned his nose up at it and started begging for the cooked chicken again (we were having roast chicken at the time ourselves and he went mental!!). Not sure what to do next but Archie seems to be in control at the moment! He is adored by all the family and indeed by anyone and everyone he meets and he sees it as his duty to say hello to everyone on his walks. Never a day goes by without feeling really thankful and lucky that he is in our lives. Hope all is well with you and all the family, All the best, Jane and Paul and Jasmine …. and Archie of course! xx" 1st Birthday greetings for Ezra arrived today from Sam. Ezra is one of Toby and Treacle's three pups born last year and he is Teagol's Uncle, as a full brother to Ernest, but not from the same litter. Wishing Ezra a lovely 1st birthday along with his two litter siblings Alfie and Saffy. Hope you are all doing well and keeping safe. "Hi Jane, I hope you are all well. I'm looking forward to following Teagol's litter, I'm sure Puddin and Teagol will make beautiful pups! Just wanted to send you some pics of Ezra today as it is his 1st Birthday. He is doing so well and is very much full of life! He loves absolutely everyone, dogs and people. Sometimes he can be a bit full on for some dogs so that's our biggest challenge at the moment. He doesn't understand why they don't all want to play! We found a food which suits his tummy better by a company called CSJ. It has a lower protein content than what he was on and was designed for sensitive tummies, he seems to be doing well on it. We took him to a large fenced dog training field yesterday and he did well off lead. It was lovely seeing him with so much freedom in a big area. The whistle training proved helpful in there. Wishing Alfie and Saffy a very 'Happy 1st Birthday' too! I will attach some recent pics. Best wishes, Sam" Kath who has Murphy, contacted me to say she had passed my contact details on to a friend. I thanked her, and she then sent me a recent photo of Murphy. Murphy is one of Teagol's very handsome litter brothers, so one of Ernest and Blottie's ten pups born December 2017.
The video (below) is from early yesterday morning after I had let the dogs out first thing and they were coming back in and settling down, before I set off to go milking for a local farm. Teagol has just reached 4 weeks today since her first mating with Puddin'. I have for the last few days on palpation of Teagol's abdomen thought that she is most probably pregnant. I can feel what seems to be small circular lumps with a rubbery consistency. I could be wrong, but along with her distinct change in behaviour sleeping loads more and not joining in vigorous playtimes as usual, coupled with a bit of weight loss over her back (which can be an indication at this stage that she is carrying a good size litter), even though feeding her extra and her eating well at the moment, and now her abdomen is starting to look slightly fuller. I think (hope) we maybe hearing the patter of tiny paws in the not to distant future. I don't think I will be getting her scanned, as I usually do with my girls, due to the vets not yet doing any unnessary veterinary work due to Covid 19. Anyway fingers tightly crossed as we watch Teagol hopefully blossom over the coming weeks. Interesting statistic on the chances of conception. A healthy fertile male dog's ejuculate contains almost 500 million sperm each time they ejuculate when mating a bitch. Out of those 500 million sperm only a few dozen will actually make it to the bitch's oviduct and then have a chance at fertilizing the ova (egg). So that is only 0,0000024 % of sperm make it to the oviduct and the sperm have yet to fertilise an ova. |
