Yesterday Ernest (3/4 Cavalier 1/4 Poodle (miniature))at just over six years old and Rosie (1/2 Brittany 1/2 Cavalier), who will be four in June, travelled to Exeter to have Doppler heart scans. Both got a "GREEN" on the knew system. Heart Scheme: Cavalier King Charles Spaniels - The Kennel Club
Now to get eye examinations booked BVA - Hereditary Eye Disease Scheme for dogs and for Ernest now over 5 years old, that last MRI scan as he has some level of Chiari-like malformation. On his previous two scans he has graded SM 0. He will be booked for MRI scanning along with his Granddaughter Polly. BVA - Chiari Malformation/Syringomyelia Scheme.
All going well with those results. We will be hoping for an Autumn litter from these two.

The decision to go ahead with this litter is born from keeping Rosie's fertility up. As much as not breeding to close between litters, going to far between litters the bitches fertility will reduce as her uterine lining builds up. With Ernest she she produced a beautiful first litter and we will use Ernest again due to being unable at this time to find another suitable stud for her. The only problem with using Ernest is we already have retained bitches by him and Rosie it has always been the plan to breed her to an unrelated male to our other line, as Rosie is unrelated to that line as well and hopefully retain a male from her. Plans are flexible and although I have Jasper (now eight months old) running on as that potential male. He has yet to pass health checks. It would be nice to hear from anyone out there that has either a  potential stud pure Cavalier CM 0 to CM 1  or a crossbred Cavalier that is either CM 0 or CM 1. Also "GREEN" on the new KC Heart Scheme.
